LEED certification is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings. The 10,500 square-foot building, located just northeast of SR56 and Carmel Valley Road, is a 3-bay commercial fire station, capable of housing 11 fire-rescue personnel including a Battalion Chief, engine, ladder truck and an ambulance. Over 20% of the building’s energy is being produced by on-site renewable energy via a photovoltaic system on a south-facing roof slope, and the remaining power needed is being supplied by 100% green, American Wind power.
Housing both a library and an environmental learning center, the 30,200 Sam J. Racadio Environmental Learning Center in Highland, CA, has achieved LEED Gold Certification, exceeds Title 24 Energy Conservation Measures by over 40%, will produce nearly 30KW of renewable energy and provides ample natural daylight for all areas. The facility was designed to be the first combination library/environmental learning center in the United States. Unique design features include a rooftop garden, an experiential courtyard, an indoor flora and fauna exhibit and a faux rock portal leading to an interactive children’s exhibit wing.
STK's comprehensive Energy Efficiency Assessment (EEA) provides an analysis of your building’s systems, envelope, fixtures, switching and controls, and even explores alternative energy possibilities. This targeted, strategic assessment provides the data you need to make informed decisions as to what corrective measures may be uniquely appropriate for the buildings you manage.
